From a Pisces

How do you live on the earth
after journeying to the depths of the soulful ocean?

Can you find happiness at the post office
once you've paid a visit to paradise?

Or appreciate the clouds
when you've already seen beyond them?

Can life be anything other than medicore
after tasting heaven and making love to God?

Practical advise is welcome...

The word that kept coming to me as I considered these very powerful questions was "bittersweet." Memories of extreme experiences, good and bad, can be so surprisingly powerful years and years later. Often they sneak up on me - a song, a smell, a glimpse of someone who might look like someone I used to know, and perhaps had and lost - or might look like I imagine I used to decades ago. Reminders of what was, what now is, and what will likely not be again. Sometimes I let it tumble out - and sometimes I put it away as best I can. Its often a bittersweet emotion, and I try to take in doses. Sometimes it feels like loss - but sometimes the sweet is a little stronger than the bitter and I have to smile and laugh at some of these extremes and my role in them.

I started looking at song lyrics and various things as I was thinking about passion, memories, and the contrast with the realities of daily life for most adults. Its surely can be drab drab drab. That was fun as I listened to a lot of songs I hadn't listened to for awhile, so I thank you for prompting that.

Anyway, last year when I was particularly disgusted with the post office-esque life that I felt sometimes trapped me, I enjoyed listening to Mad World as sung by Gary Jules (and then for fun, play the older version by Tears for Fears) once in awhile as I gave my feelings free rein - for a short while...... sometimes with a glass of wine in one hand. I'm sort of happy that phase passed with the coming of spring......

I also like Fall by George Winston - a piano piece. And of course, Fleetwood Mac rules. Much bittersweet in these artists' work.

That wasn't any practical advice, but if I think of any in the coming days I'll surely share it.

Musical suggestions is probably the best practical advice anyone can give me. I will be listening to George Wiston and Tears for Fears sometime this week, with a glass of wine in hand. Thx.
